The McKenzie Method

McKenzie Method (MDT) Blog from Break Free Physiotherapy London Ontario

If you’ve been injured before, you may have experienced a lingering issue that does not resolve over time. After several attempts at self-care through massages and stretching you can’t seem to find relief! You’ve ignored it, and over time, it’s gradually worsened. You may have tried various health care practitioners that can’t seem to change your discomfort or provide lasting relief.

You’re looking for an answer and ask yourself “What’s going on with my body?”.

The McKenzie Method may have the answer to your problem!

It is a treatment framework that goes through a series of movements to help build understanding around your pain and its cause. A clinician trained in the McKenzie Method, also known as Mechanical Diagnosis Therapy (MDT), will teach you which movement works best to help guide you towards increased mobility and comfort. A trained MDT clinician can classify an injury and provide management strategies best suited for its predicted care pathway.

Is MDT used at Break Free?

At Break Free Physiotherapy and Wellness, we value empowerment through providing self-management tools. MDT is a great framework to allow our clients to control how they feel and self-manage. We believe that the body has the potential to heal through movement, and love seeing people reach their goals.

Corey has completed several courses with the Robin McKenzie Institute of Canada, and implements these principles throughout his treatment of the spine and extremities. If you’re interested in learning more or would like to be assessed using the McKenzie Method, book an appointment with Corey here!
